What our Trainees have to say:

    “…helped me to

    develop different

    working practices.”

What initially attracted me to the trainee programme was the work-life balance promoted by Tinsdills together with the reputation of the firm in the area. I think the fact that trainees complete three training seats instead of four is quite unique and gives you the chance to gain a more in depth knowledge into each department which provides a good standing for qualification. As all four offices of the firm are so different from one another, it also gives you an insight into different working environments and working relationships as you are likely to work from at least two different offices throughout your training contract. I have worked from three out of the four offices and each one has given me different experiences and helped me to develop different working practices.

    “…I highly

    recommend training

    at Tinsdills.

I applied to Tinsdills as I wished to train at a local and expanding firm. Throughout my training contract, I undertook seats in our Family, Commercial Property and Wills, Trusts and Probate Departments. I was able to gain hands on experience in all of my seats and regularly attended Court and client meetings and learnt to progress files for the solicitors within the various departments. This experience was invaluable to me when I qualified as a solicitor in our Family Department as I was capable of running and progressing my own files.

The solicitors within our departments are all approachable and I felt able to ask questions so that I truly understood what was expected of me, why I needed to complete certain tasks and the best way to do so. I also had regular reviews and my work was given constructive feedback so that I was able to develop and refine my skills when completing different tasks. I found that the training contract at Tinsdills truly prepared me to be a qualified solicitor as I completed more than simple ‘admin’ tasks and I was able to work on many different files of varying levels of complexity. I highly recommend training at Tinsdills.

    “The firm really

    invests in their

    trainees…

The training contract is, as it should be, challenging. From an early stage, so long as you show enthusiasm and drive, you will be entrusted with a high level of responsibility and client contact, which provides excellent experience to get you ready for life as a qualified solicitor. Whilst you are given a lot of responsibility early on, there is always someone who will be happy to help with those more difficult tasks, whether it be from other trainees, solicitors or your head of department, everyone works together to achieve the best results.

As trainees, you are valued colleagues and during your seats, you will often be working directly with the head of department on complex and high value matters, which is one of the elements of my training contract that I have really valued.

The firm really invests in their trainees to ensure that on qualification, they are ready to take on the responsibilities of being qualified.
