Civil Partnerships Dissolution FAQs
To dissolve a civil partnership, you do not need to provide a reason, the only grounds are providing a statement that the relationship has broken down irretrievably. However, if you do wish to end your civil partnership you will need to have been in the partnership for at least one year.
The Court Fee to dissolve a civil partnership is £593. If you receive legal support throughout the processes, this will incur an additional fee.

Once you’ve applied to dissolve your civil partnership, the court impose a 20-week cooling off period, prior to you being able to submit your application for a Conditional Order. After receiving the Conditional Order, you’ll need to wait a further six weeks before applying to obtain your Final Order.
Due to these timeframes, the process takes a minimum of 26 weeks. However, it may take longer if there are complexities regarding financial arrangements.
